Motivation Show Announces New Schedule, Venue for 2010

During The Motivation Show in Chicago last week, its organizers announced plans to relocate the 2010 show to McCormick Place West, Chicago's newest exhibition venue, and to alter the show's exhibit and conference schedule in order to reduce travel costs for exhibitors.

Normally a three-day event that features education and exhibition concurrently, The Motivation Show next year will still be three days, but will feature one day devoted entirely to education and two days devoted entirely to exhibition, allowing exhibitors to save 33 percent on travel costs by staying just two nights in a hotel instead of the usual three.

"Our new three-day show schedule for 2010 is intended to expand our education and networking offering, while maintaining a full 16-hour exhibit schedule at a reduced cost to our exhibitors," Peter Erickson, managing director of The Motivation Show, said in a statement.

In addition to saving on hotel and meal costs, exhibitors as a result of the new two-day exhibit schedule will save money on drayage, as well as on exhibit installation and dismantling, as they'll have additional "straight time" to set up and take down exhibits at reduced rates.

"The new 2010 schedule will result in significant savings to help our exhibitors control their costs and improve their show ROI," said Show Director Nancy Petitti. "The exhibit space rate will not be increased in 2010 in an effort to hold down overall exhibiting costs."

Along with education and networking--according to show organizers, having a dedicated education day will attract more "new and qualified" attendees--The Motivation Show hopes to boost attendance by moving to a new venue, Chicago's McCormick Place West, which includes a 2,100-car parking garage, more than 60 WiFi-enabled meeting rooms, and six restaurants and cafes for show attendees.
