Gift Cards to Reduce, Reuse and Reward February 26, 2009

Computer manufacturer Dell is making it easy and rewarding for consumers to responsibly dispose of old electronics. Its new program, Dell Exchange, offers Dell gift cards in exchange for old electronics products. The program accepts a whole host of items, including laptops, cameras, PDAs and digital music players.
To make an exchange, a customer simply goes to www.dell.com/tradein and enters identifying information for the old device. Dell issues a value quote and generates a free shipping label. The customer then ships in the old device, and receives a gift card in the mail.
The program should help Dell meet its environmentally friendly commitment to recycle more equipment. Another positive for Dell is that Dell Exchange accepts other brands as well, meaning that a consumer might well turn an old Apple computer into a Dell gift card.
