Holiday Hit: Apple's New iPhone Gift Card December 04, 2008
By Jeanie Casison
It's the planet's hottest all-in-one gadget, and now—just in time for the holidays—you can give it as a reward in one fell swoop, with Apple's new iPhone 3G Gift Card. Unlike an iPod, the iPhone isn't an item that should be bought, boxed and given. The recipient needs the help of an Apple specialist to set up calling and e-mail and to personalize the phone's extensive apps.
The iPhone 3G gift card is simple and sleek—a black card with a thin red ribbon and the product's name printed on. The device itself, however, has a lot more going on. In addition to making calls, it plays music and includes a GPS mapping system and on-the-go Internet access. And there's something for everyone among the 8,000 applications available from the App Store.
The iPhone 3G gift card is available online and at Apple stores. It can be purchased for either the $199 8GB model or the $299 16GB model, and augmented with credit towards iTunes gift cards for music, movies and apps. Note that recipients will still be required to sign up for an AT&T Wireless mobile phone service plan with the iPhone.
