Inaugural ISITE Classic 2007 Golf Tournament A Success
January 10, 2008
By Jennifer Juergens

The first International SITE Foundation Classic at the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa in Monterey, Calif., Dec. 4-7 brought out the best in the incentive business. It was the first official fund raising event produced to support the new International SITE Foundation, now celebrating its first year.

Madelyn Marusa, VP of industry relations for San Diego-based PRA Destination Management and ISITE Foundation trustee says of the event: "We were delighted by the support of the incentive supplier community in Carmel and Monterey. They contributed over $250,000 value in services and showcased the best venues, golf and activities available in the destination."

The local host committee, who worked for 10 months prior to the event putting it all together, was headed up by Carol Chorbajian of CCM&E and Mary Ann O'Hearn of Pebble Beach Resorts, the USMotivation team of Caren Bigelow and Trish Semones and Bob Vitagliano, ISITE's executive director.

The ISITE Classic was supported by sponsorships from Incentive magazine and many of the top industry suppliers, such as Pebble Beach Resorts, InterContinental Hotel Group, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, along with 15 other major companies.

"This was unique to our industry and promises to be a great future partnership among the incentive houses and incentive industry suppliers," says Marusa Cyrus Mavalvala, executive vice president, Food Sales West in Costa Mesa, Calif. "It was so well done. The attention to detail, the networking was terrific and the venue was unparalleled."

Stan Orlick, vice president, key accounts for Mulholland, a sponsor as well as a participant, said, "On a scale of one to 10 it was a 12. My only problem with the program is that I didn't get there earlier and couldn't stay later."
