Guy Getaways September 12, 2007 Resorts and hotels aim for a male audience

Poker nights, bowling leagues, and…Shiatsu massages? The definition of "male bonding" is rapidly expanding as hotels and resorts target men and their buddies in new vacation, or "man-cation," packages. Offering luxury getaways aimed at male travelers, these packages present interesting ways to diversify incentive travel.
Charleston's Wild Dunes Island Resort has the Dudes on the Dunes package, which includes in-room poker and rounds of golf.
The Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston goes for a more high-end kind of camaraderie with the Entourage Package, including a luxury two-night stay in a two-bedroom suite, with a private table at the "Best Steakhouse in Boston" and take-home copies of Entourage Season I DVDs for every member of the group.
Steak dinners are one thing, but even spa treatments are man-ing up. Leading the pack again is Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, with its Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa, in Calif., offering options like the "Sports Massage" and "Gentleman's Facial," which emphasize therapeutic results and bodywork along with the personal pampering spas are more typically known for. The Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Miami, Fla. and Pinehurst in North Carolina give their guests treatments geared toward relaxing sore muscles after a game of golf.
For planners who want to give their clients a variety of options, these man-cations may be a fun way to tailor incentive packages to individuals' interests.
