Legendary luxury sailing yachts Sea Cloud and Sea Cloud II will be getting a new sister. The largest full-rigged three-mast passenger ship ever built is taking shape in a Spanish shipyard and will be completed in September 2009. She will sail under the name Sea Cloud Hussar.
The interior design will be in a classically elegant style. In response to increased market demand, the vessel will contain a generous fitness and spa area to help passengers relax.
A technically sophisticated infotainment system in every cabin will connect passengers to the 21st century's modern hi-tech world.
The ship meets the highest technical demands, while also allowing for environmentally aware propulsion technology. In addition to the sails, the main source of propulsion, the cruise line has selected a particularly environmentally friendly combined diesel-electric engine.
Hussar was the original name of the classic windjammer that now sails as the Sea Cloud. Built in 1931 for Marjorie Merriweather Post and E.F. Hutton, the ship sets the standard for luxury. Their daughter, actress Dina Merrill, spent many childhood days aboard. Sea Cloud II was built in 2001.
