Leading prepaid incentive provider American Express Incentive Services (AEIS) appointed Matt Harris vice president of marketing earlier this year. Harris comes to AEIS from Maritz Inc. AEIS is a joint venture between American Express Travel Related Services and Maritz.

In April, Carlson Marketing announced its 16th annual Spirit of Excellence Awards, recognizing 26 people from 22 travel providers, spanning destination management companies to hotels to airlines. Given Carlson Marketing's size, it's no surprise that the winners—providers who scored 90 or better on their evaluations—are a diverse bunch. DMC winners, for example, ranged from Mark Waring of Circa Austin, in Texas, to Joanne Wadsworth of South Africa's Tusker Tours.

"Carlson Marketing takes Spirit of Excellence very seriously, both in the extensive evaluation process and in recognizing our supplier-partners who have delivered at or above performance expectations," says Barb Hollister, senior director industry relations/purchasing."Those who have earned membership have done exactly that; they earned it." Incentive congratulates EUROMIC—The Destination Management Partnership in Europe and the Mediterranean, which celebrated its 35th anniversary last month. The association—which claims credit for coining the term "destination management company"—now has affiliates in 31 countries, from Austria to Turkey.

Kudos are also due to Suzanne Ashton, founder and president of incentive travel and meeting planner TPG, in Emeryville, Calif., which celebrated its 10th anniversary in March. Having started with three employees, it now has 40.
