Epic Change June 17, 2008 How to Lead Change in the Global Age (Wiley, $29.95)
Change is a constant in everybody's life: whether you're starting a new job, moving to a new city or having a child, everyone has experienced changes and knows the many stresses that can accompany them. When change occurs within a company or corporation, it is all the more difficult to overcome because of the vast number of individuals affected by the alteration.
In EPIC Change, Timothy R. Clark attempts to systematically breakdown how to cope with and eventually thrive following change. Clark maintains that all successful changes follow his four step EPIC system: Evaluation, Preparation, Implementation and Consolidation.
Clark walks his readers through the four steps of change, emphasizing different tasks that must be completed in each stage in order to achieve a smooth and successful transition. After recognizing and addressing a problem, it is imperative for leaders to gain the trust and support of their coworkers, both in the preparation and implementation phases. Clark also stresses the importance of seeing projects through to their finish, as opposed to trusting momentum to finish the job.
