• Livescribe, Inc., introduced Pulse, which the vendor touts as the world's first "smartpen." With this computer within a pen that captures handwriting and simultaneously records audio and synchronizes it to the writing, users can tap on their notes to replay what was recorded from the exact moment they were writing. In addition, the smartpen is a general purpose computer with I/O capabilities, and a Java development environment.
• The Conference Board and eePulse, Inc., released The Leadership Pulse, a real-time management tool that measures, analyzes, and benchmarks employee attitudes, knowledge, and engagement. A Web-based application, the tool provides organizations with information about their current operations; uncovers trends; and provides comparative data by industry, job level, function, and other perspectives.
• NetDimensions, a global provider of learning, knowledge, and performance management systems, released Enterprise Knowledge Platform (EKP) 5.0, the latest version of its flagship offering. It provides support for SCORM 2004, and offers accessibility improvements, including a new Application Programming Interface (the Portal Toolkit API) that permits the creation of custom satellite sites.
• TBM Consulting Group launched "Essential Lean Learning," an online interactive training program for lean awareness. Developed by TBM's LeanSigma Institute, the e-learning program is designed to give a broad audience access to online lean training, and provide rapid knowledge transfer of basic lean concepts and applications.
• Manpower launched Contemporary Working (www.manpowerblogs.com/ holmes), a blog written by VP of World of Work Solutions Melanie Holmes. This open forum is intended to facilitate an exchange of ideas on workplace tips, tools, and topics.
